Standard digital options have specific trading hours and are not available 24 hours a day like spot forex instruments.
Expiry Times
With digital options, traders can choose between 5-minute and 1-minute expiry times, although trades can be entered late which means that expiry times of less than 1-minute and between 1-minute and 5-minutes may also be achieved.
Why Trade Digital Options?
Digital options offer more flexibility than binary options in a few ways. With binary options, traders can only ‘strike’ at the current market price. With digital options, traders can choose between a number of different strike prices, which also influences the potential payout percentage. This opens the door for larger payouts of up to *900% for successful trades.
* Please remember that traders will only receive payouts for successful trades.
On the other hand, it may also result in payouts which are lower than the corresponding binary options payout, in the case of trades that are directed away from the strike price. For example, if the selected strike price is above the current market price and a trader hits the red ‘Lower’ button for a put option, the payout percentage will be lower than the corresponding binary option payout because the probability of winning the trade is higher than 50%.
New Digital Option Feature: ‘Current Price Mode’
IQ Option’s digital options can also be traded like binary options by activating the ‘Current price mode’ function that ‘follows’ the current market price. In that case, the payout percentage is the same for both call and put options and when a trade is initiated, the current market price is used as the strike price. In some cases, a digital option that follows the current market price can have a higher payout percentage than the corresponding binary option instrument. At the time of writing, the OTC EUR/USD 5-minute digital option contract had a payout percentage of 89% while the OTC EUR/USD 5-minute binary option contract had a payout percentage of only 87%.
* Payout percentages vary frequently and may not always be the same as in this example.
‘CURRENT PRICE MODE’ IS A NEW DIGITAL OPTION FEATURE THAT AUTOMATICALLY ‘STRIKES’ AT THE CURRENT MARKET PRICE.
